Letter from Rev. Clarence, 4/17/22

Dear Members and Friends of St. James,

I share with you my delight in seeing again, after a hiatus of two long years, so many familiar faces at Eucharist, and to hear sung with such enthusiasm, although still behind masks for health safety’s sake, the familiar hymns of Easter. I pray that the light which shone into our sanctuary after the overcast which began our day, will continue to shine figuratively and literally in our communal lives.

Please note, of your kindness, that for next two weeks, this weekly communication from me will be dormant. After two and one-half years of continuous notes and updates to you, I shall not crowd your inboxes. Rather, I shall bask in the joy of spending time with my those members of my family, who have traveled from Hong Kong and whose return is all too imminent. I shall continue to lead our weekly Eucharistic celebration, but not offer a formal homily. I shall discipline myself and refrain from Zoom meetings and other activities which would distract me from this personal restorative necessity. Do not hesitate, however, to contact me with emergencies.

May this day and all Eastertide be blessed for you and your families.
Of your charity, I bid you pray:
O God, who for our redemption gave your only-begotten Son to the death of the cross, and by his glorious resurrection delivered us from the power of our enemy: Grant us so to die daily to sin, that we may evermore live with him in the joy of his resurrection; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

May the peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you, and remain with you, and those whom you love, for ever. Amen.

Your fellow traveler on The Way,
