Open Letter from Rev. Clarence, 7/4/21

Dear Members and Friends of St. James,

I send you warm greetings on this Independence Day weekend, even as I confess a certain relief that the work of the women and men in the world of science have enabled us, through development of vaccines, to resume a certain rhythm in our pattern of worship, and one not too distant in form from that which is familiar to us.  According to the wishes of our Bishop-diocesan, that we should continue to communicate via Zoom, live-streaming, or recorded liturgies, I post my meditations each Sunday, but after our in-person celebration of Eucharist.  It is a privilege to remain thus in contact with those in our parish and beyond who are no able to attend Liturgy.  We do so, not only via this personal, parochial listing, but also via Facebook (search @StJSomervilleMA) and the St. James website

As a man of much pragmatism, I would ask that you inform us should you desire to be removed from this listserv.  No offense would be taken.

As we find ourselves in the more normal summer hiatus, having no urgent matters to convey, I bid you a safe and restorative holiday weekend.  I bid your prayers always for those who minister in the healing of the sick and infirm, and those who work towards the healing and posterity of our nation.

The Collect for the Sixth Sunday after Pentecost:
O God, you have taught us to keep all your commandments by loving you and our neighbor: Grant us the grace of your Holy Spirit, that we may be devoted to you with our whole heart, and united to one another with pure affection; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.  Amen

May the peace of God, that passes all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be with you, and remain with you and those whom you love, this day and forever more.  Amen.

Your fellow traveler in The Way,
