Open Letter from Rev. Clarence, 8/8/21

Dear Members and Friends of St. James,

Attached [see separate post] is my sermon from today, the 11th Sunday after Pentecost. I hope that you will discover in it at least one kernel of reflection which will bring a moment of joy and clarity into your daily routine. There is only one announcement, stated last week and repeated this week: We shall hold next Sunday, immediately following Eucharist, our mid-summer vestry meeting. You are invited and encouraged to attend. The quietness of summer is addictive, but I urge you to attend, so that we might have a discussion of plans for fall 2021 and continuation of recovery from Covid-19.

I am very pleased to report that no one in the parish, or who has been in attendance at in-person Eucharist, has become infected with Covid-19 or any of its variants. I am grateful that attendees at worship continue to observe protocols that are in place to mitigate against transmission of the disease. Forsake not to pray for those who continue to work toward relieving those was are afflicted with this virus, or hindered by any other illness.

The Collect for 11 Pentecost
Grant to us, Lord, we pray, the spirit to think and do always those things that are right, that we, who cannot exist without you, may by you be enabled to live according to you will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

May the peace of God, that passes all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be with you, and remain with you and those whom you love, this day and forever more. Amen.

Your fellow traveler in The Way,
