Open Letter from Rev. Clarence, 9/12/21

Dear Members and Friends of St. James,

The most important notice which I send today is a reminder that the vestry of the parish meets in a regular session on Sunday next, 19 September, following celebration of Eucharist.  You are invited to attend and, should that not be possible and you have questions or concerns that ought to be brought to my or the vestry’s attention, you may submit them via “reply” to this email.

It is my duty to report weekly, even should I have no changes to report re: our efforts to ward off infections during this pandemic, that we continue to observe the requirements set by our Bishop and the City of Somerville: that everyone—including those fully vaccinated against Covid-19—are required to don a mask when indoors.  We reside in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, but I follow still with interest what happens in my former state of New York.  The latter’s governor has declared, following information from CDC, that we are dealing with an air-borne virus.  This, while it may be obvious, must be repeated, lest we become complacent.  We at St. James remain diligent and undertake every effort to offer opportunity to worship in a safe environment.  For your cooperation, your vestry and I are most appreciative.

Forsake not your prayers for those afflicted with any illness or difficulty and nor for those who render them care.

We pray:
O God, because without you we are not able to please you, mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit may in all things direct and rule our hearts, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.  Amen.

May the peace of God, that passes all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be with you, and remain with you and those whom  you love, this day and forever more.  Amen.

Your fellow traveler in The Way,
