Dear Members and Friends of St. James,

Per your request, I share with you my reflections on the lectionary for the Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost, and invite your comments. I continue to work with diocesan authorities and fellow clergy, in order we, as a parish, may benefit from the continued advice and support in our efforts to restore the liveliness of our parish which, like others in our diocese, as well as in the wider Anglican/ Episcopal Communion suffered under the Covid-19 pandemic. I am pleased to share with you in our communal increased enthusiasm for our footprint on Teele Square in Somerville. Challenges remain before us, but as one parishioner remarked recently, she senses a renewed spirit of dedication to our mission. I pray that that spirit is and remains contagious among us all.

We are united in prayer:
O God, you declare your almighty power chiefly in showing mercy and pity: Grant us the fullness of your grace, that we, running to obtain your promises, may become partakers of your heavenly treasure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

May the peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you, and remain with you, and those whom you love, for ever. Amen.

Your fellow traveler in The Way,
