The following is from the city of Somerville. Please do join us at our 10am service–if your route is blocked, just tell the officer you are heading to St. James. We’ll be here even if we have to jog with the runners!

runners“On Sunday, Dec. 18, the following road closures will be in effect in and around the Davis Sq. area to accommodate the running of the Jingle Bell road race, which benefits our high school sports teams and local nonprofits. From 9 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m. Elm St. (Dover St. to Russell St.), Day St., Herbert St., and Chester St. will be closed to traffic.

The race begins at 11 a.m. on Highland Ave. in Davis Sq., continuing onto Cedar St., Broadway through Ball Sq., Powderhouse Blvd., North St., Broadway in Teele Sq., and ending on Holland St. in Davis Sq.

Beginning at approximately 11 a.m., major roadways in these areas will be closed temporarily as runners pass. Traffic on secondary streets may also be delayed for a brief time. Buses traveling to Davis Sq. will be rerouted. Please see mbta.com for more details.

Police and MBTA officials will be stationed throughout these areas to direct traffic and provide detour information. If you have any questions please call 311, or 617-666-3311 from mobile phones or if outside the City.”
