Tell Future Generations About Your Somerville

Posted on ; Filed under News

From the City of Somerville:
This year  Somerville celebrates its 175th anniversary, but let’s look into the future — to the city’s bicentennial in the year 2042.
To commemorate the event, future librarians will dig historical materials out of the archives. What will they find? We hope they find your stories. They’re important to pass down to future generations, and if you don’t do it, no one will. (We hope librarians in 2067, 2092, 2117 and beyond also find your stories).
Mayor Curtatone writes in the Somerville Times about telling stories by sharing one of his own. Apparently, as a kid he and some friends thought climbing Prospect Hill Monument would be a smart idea, and he broke his arm. Others remember seeing Somerville resident Barack Obama when the future president was a law student. One woman remembers dancers in glittering costumes performing at Somerville Theatre.
